How to Print 2 PDF pages on 1 page

I found this website that gives step by step instructions on printing pdf documents 2 per page. This is really helpful for people who have to print an entire manual or something that is a bunch of pages and would normally cost an arm and a leg.

Who Should Use the "Henrico" Address?
With the exception of Glen Allen and Sandston, if you live in Henrico County, or your business is located in Henrico, then you may now use the "Henrico, Virginia" address. For the zip codes not surveyed (23222, 23223, 23226, 23227 and 23230) the USPS advised that you may now use "Henrico, Virginia" permanently. For mailing addresses in zip code 23075, "Henrico" is the preferred address, but "Highland Springs, Virginia" remains an acceptable alternate community name.

What's the difference between a "secondary" and "primary" address?
A primary address is the address preferred by the post office. However, the post office will recognize a "secondary" address, meaning it is an acceptable address and your mail will be delivered.

No Formal Address Change Required
You do not need to (and should not) initiate a formal address change through the USPS. Simply begin using "Henrico, Virginia" in your correspondence. Over time, you will begin to receive some mail from various utilities and businesses using the "Henrico, Virginia" address. Any mail sent to you from Henrico County Government will also use the new address.

Chesterfield, Henrico, and Richmond Police and the Hanover County Sheriff's Office have joined forces with The Central Virginia Crime Prevention Association and Shred-it to offer free document shredding collection events during Crime Prevention Month. Bring (to one of the locations listed below) up to 4 boxes ( 10"x13"x18") OR 6 paper grocery bags of your personal information to be shredded free.

How to search the catalog for Read to Me Kits

The kits are searchable by:
Read to me kit subject and general (keyword) searches (or a call number search in Workflows)
or
Discovery pack title, subject, and general (keyword)

• The title is “Alphabet preschool discovery pack” or “Mother Goose Preschool Discovery Pack” etc.
• Read to me kit shows up as a subject heading.
  

Notice that it is Discovery pack and not Discovery Kit.

Pimp My Bookcart

Here's what I'm thinking for Pimp my Bookcart.

Gas Pump- maybe the old fashioned rounded kind because it would lend itself more to the form of the book cart

Since most of the bookcarts have 3 levels, we could have each level labelled like the three basic gas octanes... Regular 87, Mid-Grade 89 and Premium 93... Maybe some Children's books on top, YA in the middle and some adult on the bottom. Or we could do light-heavy reading... Obviously if we did place books on the shelves of the cart, they would have to be placed decoratively and not just thrown on there like we were going to shelve them...

And the catch phrase, Get your fill at the library, incorporated somewhere...

ILL binder clarification

Just to clarify, I do need a copy of the second screen with the book title and info... what I don't need is the second pages of the first and second screen. The info that carries over to the next page is unnecessary. Sorry if my cheat sheets were confusing; I have printed a new one that is more clear!

ILL Procedures

I made a little cheat sheet for the ILL process... if you have a sec, flip to the front of the ILL notebook and review just to make sure that we are all doing the same thing.

PS. I am on a kick to use half the amount of paper when printing ILLs so make sure to read that part! Save trees :)

National Library Week

The contest for NLW here at NP is simple:

There are 5 envelopes that have tickets, there will be one on each of the self check machines and two on the desk at Circ. Each one will have 5 tickets in it, the patron will take one ticket out and bring it to the Ref desk for a prize. There is only one prize per patron per day, no matter how many times they check out in the day. They must bring their receipt to the desk along with the ticket to get a prize. Receipts dated before Monday April 14th are not eligible.

There are two "shifts" of tickets the morning from 10 to 5:30 and the evening from 5:30 to 9, as the patrons bring tickets to the desk, we will hold them and write the total number of patrons on a sheet of paper. At 5:30 we will replace the tickets in the envelopes for the evening patrons. If a day patron goes to a machine that doesn't have tickets, tell them to grab one from a different machine. There are adult prizes and children prizes.

I think that is all of the rules.

Last Lecture

Hi all,

This book, "The Last Lecture" by Randy Pausch has been making headlines. He is dying of cancer and he has left some words of wisdom for his children. He works at CMU in Pittsburgh and he is inspiring people everywhere. His lecture has been downloaded from YouTube over 10 million times and he was featured on 20/20. The book is a bestseller and I suspect people will come in and ask about it. We do have copies on order. He has moved to VA, click the link to see the video.
